JSU volunteers aid in community feeding efforts


ronald McDonald House 2013The Jackson State University region of America Reads-MS AmeriCorps celebrated the annual “Souper” Bowl of Caring on Feb. 2, a day dedicated to feeding needy people before the Super Bowl.

Members of the team cleaned and served food at Stewpot of Jackson and the Ronald McDonald House, which houses families whose children are being treated at the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital. McAllister’s Deli in Jackson donated food to the volunteers.

More than 300 people, which included 70 families, were fed.
