Dean Glenda Baskin Glover named Tennessee State University’s eighth president


UPDATE: Glenda Glover, Jackson State University College of Business dean, was unanimously chosen to serve as president of Tennessee State University on Nov. 27.

(JACKSON, Miss.) – Jackson State University congratulates College of Business Dean Glenda Baskin Glover on being recommended to serve as president of Tennessee State University.

“Dr. Glover has been an invaluable asset to Jackson State University, not only exemplifying excellence in her field, but inspiring that same excellence in our students, faculty and staff,” said Jackson State University President Carolyn W. Meyers. “Tennessee State University will be fortunate to have her at its helm.”

As a certified public accountant, attorney and professor, Glover’s background served Jackson State University well. Highlights of her 18 years at Jackson State include obtaining the university’s first endowed chair, leading a successful $5 million fundraising initiative, spearheading the implementation of online learning programs, developing a cost reduction plan and implementing internal fiscal accountability measures.

A 1974 Tennessee State University alumna, Glover holds a bachelor’s degree in math, a master’s degree in business administration from Clark Atlanta University, a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center and a doctorate from George Washington University in business economics and policy.

  1. the NEW interim Dean has Zero peer reviewed articles as a FIRST author over the last 5-10 years. He is unfair to (non black faculty, most of them left) and put the knife in the faculty back to get a move from the faculty senate to interim Dean.
    we need a real researcher. who is fair to all. the PhD program is ranked very low in the nation.

  11. It is official now by unanimous vote of The Tennessee Board of Regents. Dr. Glover will assume the position of President of Tennessee State University on January 2, 2013. What an honor it has been to serve as her secretary/administrative assistant for the past 18 years. She will definitely be missed.
