Fall 2012 commencement ceremonies combined

The Jackson State University Fall 2012 Commencement ceremony will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center. This ceremony will recognize the accomplishments of both undergraduate and graduate students.

Those persons who completed degree requirements in August 2012 are invited to participate in a formal ceremony during JSU’s exercises in December.

There will not be a ceremony on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. Updates will be placed on JSU’s commencement website, http://www.jsums.edu/commencement.

  1. I feel the pain of you all! I understand that this mishap has made everyone a little stressed. Sadly enough, playing with people’s time is down right disrespectful and and unsympathetic towards those who are participating. However, you never know what event might have taken place to cause such a damper on all our lives!
I am an undergraduate and I personally would like to know what you all are graduating with and what your research topic were. As a McNair Scholar, sharing graduation with the graduate students is an elating experience to me.
Knowing what you all have done for Jackson State University as a researcher allows me to know three things about you… you are dedicated, persistant, and focused educator with the ability to produce more leaders like yourself. Like my department chair Dr. Mark G. Henderson always says, “Good leaders do not build good followers, but good leaders!”
See you all December 8th as I walk across the stage!

    That student you don’t remember!

  2. This is ridiculous. It gets moved from August. Said to be on Friday by graduate school (only found out when I sought information) and now its back to Saturday. I hope this never happens to anyone else. Sad that it was initially changed without details being clear on front end. Horrible experience…trying to get family and friends to support you and details keep changing. Thank heavens I didn’t put out for expensive invitations; I’d feel even worse…but now I do have to change my hometown newspaper announcement. Thanks for needless headaches!!!

    • I agree, I do not live in MS and I have to buy a plan ticket and take off work. The crazy part is that I called several times throughout the week and was constantly told that graduate school commencement would be the Dec. 7. JSU- PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE THE DATE AGAIN!
