Public safety enforcing identification badge requirement for entire JSU campus community

card4As part of an effort to ensure a safe environment at Jackson State University, all faculty and staff must immediately begin wearing their JSU identification cards.

Students are also being urged to immediately begin wearing their ID cards. The cards must be visible at all times while on campus. Students may receive their first lanyard free of charge from the Division of Student Life.

Beginning March 18, public safety officers will start enforcing the requirement for students, faculty and staff. Student violators are subject to a $25 fine and other disciplinary actions. Faculty and staff violators could also face a fine and disciplinary action.

Campus Police Chief Thomas Albright announced the change last month.

“That’s a mechanism we have in place to keep those off the premises who don’t belong on campus and might cause trouble,” Albright said.

For more information about the requirement, contact the Department of Public Safety at 601-979-2580 or the Division of Student Life at 601-979-2241.
